When to give up on your landy?

Had a run of bad luck lately on the old landy.

 

First the cam belt went and everything had to come out bar the block. Next up the battery boiled and had to be replaced to find that the alternator was goosed and that needed changing.

 

I thought that was it and i'd be fine for a while but low and be hold I left site today and either the master or slave clutch cylinder has gone.

 

When do you say enough is enough or do you think there can't be much more to replace?

Other than the cambelt snapping, those other bits are fairly minor (though I know how you feel) - if the rest of the vehicle is pretty sound then why rush into anything hasty?

 

Now cambelt's done, that should be good for another 50,000 miles or so.

 

Replace broken bits with good quality parts and then they shouldn't break again for a while.

yeah your right it's just a bad state when all you earnings go into repairing something that's meant to make you money but i suppose that's the life of the self employed.

 

Your right about good parts tho Chris, Pete Miller sorted me right out on that front, a top man.

As Ferguson said prob just a bad run, what age, type and miles is it? Best avoid the G Wagon Big J unless you don't mind the fuel being guzzled about 15 mpg I think for that things

Thought i'd put a pic up of the old lass, hope i've done it right. Needs finishing but it does the job for me for now.

It's E reg, don't know the mileage as it's got a disco 300tdi in, solid chassis bar one patch on the body outrigger even the cross members original. Now has terrafirma big shocks and springs on and could do with a roof rack.
