Hey people

 

Want to know some of the ways people are retrieving their rope guide or pulley saver with out them smashing into the ground, I know of some ways that are effective but wanted to get some ideas, preferably without having to have a throw line pre installed.......

Take the throw back up with you, tie the throw line to the loop on the Pulleysaver then drop the back to the ground.

Hold the throw line when on the ground as you retrieve your rope & Pulleysaver.

Throwline on to a branch it can be low down, attach the throwline to the hitch side of your rope pull the throwline as high as it will go without pulling the line out then tie off or get your mate to hold it, pull out Ropeguide as normal and it will catch on the throwline set lower in the tree. Just make sure the distance between your throwline and the ground isnt shorter than the distance between your ropeguide and the throwline as it will hit the ground anyway

You can do pretty much the same thing but with the tail of your climbing line on the way down from the tree.

As peter and ewan said! I generally chuck a throwline up as ewan said as i often forget to leave end of my rope over a branch...

i use a double snapper for my ART rope guide, surprisingly it works pretty well

have your retrieval clip, on to your access line. means you can pull rope out then, everything else comes down with the access. if you use one that is
