It's the way military procurement works - suppliers can't be expected to double production at the drop of a hat when war breaks out so kit is stockpiled.

On the flip side, maybe it's giving something back to the tax payer, selling it at that price.

 

Western, you are correct. I remember seeing news reels of thousands of tons of ammo and weapons being dump over board barges just after WWII from the UK and I know all branches of the US military did the same. Yes johny it is a waste, that is why government is not run by business manand women, instead by politicians most of which never had to make a payrol or actually do a days work.:thumbdown:, rant over.

No, taking the piss is when you cancel £3.5 billion worth of aircraft, that are already paid for, and cutting them up for the local metal dealers.

 

You paid for them, I was within a month of flying on them, and your government scrapped them. :thumbdown:

 

Which is why I quit and headed treewards.

elg you are correct about the dumping my old man was in the navy and after the war he went out into the channel and dumped ammo, spare engines , rations , for weeks , could not be sold as it was lend /lease
