Just built a new chipbox out of GRP from a used wagon body . The body had been sign written just wondered if anyone knows how to get rid of the discolouration where the writing was ? Ive tried t cut and traffic film remover which cleaned it up well but theres still the discolouring . Its not really obvious but would like to clean it up before it gets sign written . Cheers Stuart

To be honest, I doubt you will get it out.

If its coloured GRP then the colour may have faded due to UV light exposure over time, but the signwriting will have protected the pigment underneath, so that will be the original and no amount of effort will change that

Heavy T cutting may cut sufficiently far into the service to bring some colour back on the faded GRP, but be careful not to cut through the Gel coat.

I have spent hours on boats over the years trying to achieve the same thing, without success, but it does depend a little on the age of the material.

Good luck

Been there, sometimes you just can't get them clean because it's either sun fade or a chemical reaction with the glue, had to paint them before now but these days I would just get the nice man at the sign writers to put a plain vinyl wrap on it.

I used to work with grp, I would use 2000 wet and dry and then polish with a super fine cutting compound. It may be something to do with the glue though, spoke to a chap that sprays cars and vans and he said that he'd stripped a sigh written van back to the metal, resprayed and you could still see the lettering!!
