Had an offer of a new ms250 with 18inch bar on ebay for £253,is this a fair price?

Yes its a fair price but an 18" bar is to big, it will just bog down, get a 13-15" and it will be a good saw, play your local dealer off against the ebay price and see what he can do also ask jonsie on here (FR Jones and son) what he can do.

there a good saw, the pro range is getting some good feedback, i have a small makita top handle that i anly use for pruning work, good saw but not as well built as a sthil, not stihl prices though. If your after a cheaper fire wood saw have a look at jonsered aswell, built by husky and almost the same to look at apart from colour.

I dont understand how people think they are bullet proof, i had a sort out through my old mans problem saws at xmas and when it came to the ms26 ....new fuel filter ,spark plug and a good clean out and it still would not fire, took off the exhaust and its a scored up melted mess, this saw has hardly done any work still wearing the original bar and put with my experience of the other 2 ive killed i put them as one of the most over rated saws made.

of course your right ! i have never heard a bad word about them unless compared to a 346,they just seem to self destruct though when put in my hands or my dads!

Mine isnt even an MS260 its the 026 and it just keeps going and going and going etc etc.

I do maintain my kit to the point of shining the saws but thats me!!!! Im not sure if it helps with the working life of the 026!
