Hi all you mechanicly minded and well informed persons,

having a problem with a 1550 mog.... First symtom was flat battery after leaving it for a few days, initialy thought duff cell, then realised after charging light started coming on it was the alternator. Second symtom was not been able to 'key stop' the engine.

Question, have I got two electrical problems at the same time, or is the alternator causing the second? The sparky removed the alternator this morning for a repair.

I know when we refit we can see if the second fault remains, but thought I would see if anybody has a thought.

Yep, full air..... when you turn key off it kills dash displays, but not the engine.

Might have a electric over air solinoid on it.

Find the actuator on the exhaust manifold, follow it untill you find the solinoid.Run 12V to it and see if it works.

Could be.

I have only worked on one mog,but if like Huck said, his 1600 shuts off with the exhaust brake acuator, then if yours shuts off in the same manner then something may well be loose.

No its not the exhaust brake, its an air operated lever on the back of the injector pump, if you need to stop the engine when there is no air you can just reach under the wheel arch and move the lever.
