Just had this on demo today. I have a 3 year old Vermeer 252 so as there both powered by the same engine it was quite nice as a comparison. I have to say I am very impressed it loses very little power from the hydraulic cutting head. The swing on the head is its most impressive feature. It's a very productive machine and overall a great machine no wonder they are selling well.

A big thanks to dean from bandit/global for the demo.

I'm curious to know what kind of productivity output this machine has compared to the HB20. Same engine size, but a different drive system, larger wheel with more teeth, and presumably more control and less operator fatigue/error etc.

Has there been any feedback regarding this sort of question? Perhaps its 50% more efficient? Or twice as productive? Or is it a bit more close cut than that? Cheers!

This is the current 2250xp narrow version (29"), the main difference from the HB20 is obviously operator fatigue. Although the HB20 is a very productive grinder & will cope with any size stump it is still a pedestrian grinder, the 2250 has a 50" swing arc so not much manoeuvring to do, also the cutterhead is 20" diameter with 10 more teeth so it has a lot more momentum.

By far the best selling point of these range of grinders is the hydraulic drive so no maintenance or expense with belts which I come across every week with all manufacturers, the engine is positioned on the rear low down making the machines well balanced & stable. Whether the machine is more productive or not? there are too many variables.

There is a small loss to the hydraulic system if you are working hard, under normal operating circumstances if the depth of cut & slew speeds are set there is really no difference. All that will happen if you try to take to deeper cut is the hydraulic system will relieve to ease the strain on the machine to a point where it can stop but on the + side you cant wreck belts etc or abuse it. Personally I think it's a balance.

There's no contest in productivity this machine is excellent. You can not compare them together. I had a demo of a hb20 over 3 years ago but chose a Vermeer 252 instead as it suited my business better. I am the guy in the photo when dean gave me a demo of the 2250.(thanks again dean). I was thoroughly impressed and will plan to get one in the not to distant future(hopefully). It will be a upgrade from my Vermeer you don't notice the loss of power much due to how it's delivered.
