Just back from it. Seemed less exhibitors, less timber framers and fewer carvers, but a good few of the usual fantastic artisan woodworkers in attendance.

Down sides are 50% hike in price from last year, and security guards dressed as neo-fascists and wearing stab jackets. And even worse, in an apparent disregard of the premise of local (ish) small independent producers, two Walls ice cream vans, in prime position, like a creeping disease.

Lets hope that the new venue does'nt mean Woodfest looses it's comfortable,casual and unfortunately, almost unique nature, and follows the corporate dollar.

was my fist woodfest today and im very sad to say that it was a huge disapointment and i shall not be attending again. wouldnt have been so bad with maybe a £5 fee, but £15?? for what? sad times indeed

We went yesterday. It had forecast rain all day and they were right. The entry fee was on the steep side for what was a much shrunken offering. Not many braved the weather and even fewer seemed to be spending.

 

It will be our fifth consecutive visit next year. Woodfest was a unique event and I do hope it gets back its mojo.
