If I understand correctly, you've been given the opportunity to quote?

Why not do it once for free and time yourself so you get exactly the right price in that you need. If someone undercuts you then at least you know it wasn't because you over egged it.

Measure the area. You know how fast your mower goes and you know the width of the cut, so you can calculate how long it will take to mow that area, roughly. If you figure you can get it done in less than half day then price it for half day, or if longer then a whole day. Price it so it's properly worth your while. If you price it cheap then you'll have trouble putting the price up if you got it wrong. And I certainly wouldn't be doing several sports pitches for free to see how long it takes!

If you have been given it to cut then do it and put your bill in after.

If they want a quote then pedroski is correct. Put a quot ein and if its too high then you wont get the work and you will know what "too high" is.

It's not for that Roman Abramovich bloke is it?

He's got a few quid, I wouldn't be too shy about sticking in a decent price for cutting his pitch.

It's not a case of being cheeky with an expensive price - you really need to price it to make it worth your while, otherwise it just isn't worth doing it. And yeah, if it helps then ask what they're paying at the moment. No harm in asking.
