Spiders in oz!

Hi people.. focusing on moving to australia. This is going to sound silly but i have a ridiculous fear of spiders..what are the chances of encountering them on the job/up a tree??

When I was there for a holiday for 3 weeks I saw 4 red backs,a funnel web and a white tail, all in suburban gardens

I knew it was a bad idea watching arachnaphobia when i was 5!

Only saw one funnelweb when I was there and that was in a zoo. Plenty of redbacks but unlikely that they'll bother you. Huntsman spiders are the ones that you'll see most of more than likely and if you don't like spiders they'll be pretty scary but they're actually harmless. Personally I loved the fauna of Oz and the fact that most of it was poisonous was a bonus. Maybe try hypnotherapy cos you're going to meet a heap of creepy crawlies out there.

thanks for the info taupotreeman..tbh i cant really let spiders stop me! just wanted a heads up before i go rummiging around in the undergrowth..anyways time to go out into the tranquility..and rain.. in edinburgh! cheers
