Help with my Conkers

Recommended Posts

If you are wanting to keep them in pots then re-po them into the desired size pot you want them in, this will restrict the root growth therefor restrict the size of the tree. If you are wantingt o plant them in the garden, i would think long and hard about an appropriate site for them taking into consideration the mature size of these tress (dont plant them too close to other trees or buildings) at this hight they will look lost in the middle of the lwan etc but trust me you will be glad you did in 20 years time

Good luck with them

Thanks

We live in a small terraced house with a small garden. Possibly in 10 years we might be able to move but I doubt we will ever have space to plant it in the garden.

So its pots for us, pots are about 18" tall x 12" wide, so what size should I have and should I feed them?

This is a common thing

We find chestnut trees in peoples gardens often by the house- probably planted childrens conkers.

You could try repotting into a medium pot and burying in the soil surrounded by sandy compost and mulched.

Will make it easier to look after and easier to move in 10 years.

You can bonsai Conkers, it well need a lot of looking after, re-potting and you will need to learn to trim the roots, but it's worth it if the tree lives and at the size you want it too

I went to buy some trailer wheels at the weekend and the guy next door had about 30 Bonsis in the garden, one being a Conker, it was fantastic, but I would just kill it LOL
