Do i need a chipper ?

Hi folks thinking of getting some work equiptment together, so as i can do general tree work,im looking at a tipper van and a chipper.

But do i realy need the chipper?

As all the waste i get can be booked in at the local tip and taken in the tipper ,exept the logs ,i require for my self family an friends ill keep,

Just trying to keep the costs down whats your views on this ?and the best way forward.cheers...

No you do not need a chipper

but it would be nice and allow you to do a lot more.

In general you do not NEED anything other than your health

No , not at first, just build your kit up as the money and work comes in.

I`d second that. Just a truck is more useful than just a chipper. If you can afford both then get both. If you can afford one, get a tipper. No chipper just means you can`t get as much stuff in the truck and you generally have to work harder to get rid of that stuff. In the long run both are pretty essential if you are serious about doing your own work.

 

I would also say that sometimes no chipper is better than a rubbish chipper.

If your asking this question then no you do not need one, you can make do brashing up on a trailer or tipper bed. eventually if you get enough work you will get fed up of mashing up and burning it etc, by then you will know you need a chipper

chipper would save alot of time and you would be able to quote more competitively leading to more work surely.

Spend enough on a van so that its not going to break down all the time and leak oil on customers drives and put the rest into getting a small chipper, maybe a timberwolf 150 (6")

 

Dont spend a fortune on a van when you could have had van and chipper for the same price!!

Go and see mr bank manager and get a loan for a Mog 1750 with chip box and put a 10" chipper on the front, get a hi-ab tipping grain trailer to tow behind!

That's good advice.

 

On the other hand, you should already know if you need a chipper. I your struggling with out one and working 6/7 days a week and booked 4/5 weeks ahead then you need one. Buying second hand means buying someone else's rubbish.

 

On another hand, your entering a saturated market, why??

You dont need a chipper to start with, you will know when you do.

 

Why do i keep reading all this stuff about being a saturated market? what pish. Dont listen to them, if your good you will get work, some times more than you can handle. In the mean time just look to make enough to survive untill your name gets out there.
