On my Hakki Pilke 1x37 I can put a new chain and bar on and after a few weeks cutting, not a great amount really the chain goes around but won't cut maybe halfway thru the log and sometimes jams, i can't see anything wrong with bar and the chain is still sharp any help please.

Tried that but i think the problem might be that it starts cutting at an angle halfway thru log and gets stuck. Thanks Zeb

bar groove worn and or chain drive links worn or chain badly sharpened.

Agree with that :001_smile:

Whip bar and chain off and put a square across the rails - there's a good chance one will be higher than the other. If it's really bad and a file is too much like hard work, I've levelled them out before with a grinder but go steady so as not to heat it up too much.

Try putting a new chain on it, I had a similar problem and was convinced it was the bar being the problem but it turned out to be that the tie straps had worn down to the rivets but not equally on both sides. Making it cut like the bar rails went level.

Check chain is evenly sharpened use a bench grinder every now and again. Chris has made a good point i have never even thought to check and I have been badly hand sharpening our processor chain for 5 years. Normally if we have this problem the teeth on one side of the the chain are bigger than the other.

Thanks for that, it appears to be drive links worn, but i don't like throwing a chain away when the teeth are as new not even been sharpened. Cheers Zeb
