Looked at a job the otherday for a friend of mine near some powerlines, well im not sure what they are. They are on like a standard wooden telegraph pole but the line itself is much thicker than a telephone line, On the telegraph pole it says danger high voltage. Im not going to touch the trees which are 4 metres away til i know what the lines all about. Anyone got any ideas what the line is?

The line is black or a black outer coating?

Where would I start to get that section shut down? I understand you have to call the electric board and they survery it then shut it down while you work but all my other knowledge is gray as in who to call as in what number etc.

Glad im on arbtalk or i would be stumped :001_smile:

this is the number I used: 0845 601 4516.

call centre were very helpful. unfortunately the local branch were incompetent and never turned up on the day they were supposed to. Would like to know if anyone else has had this experience and whether you can claim compensation for wasted time.

Ask client who the provider is, call them and say you need to arrange a third party shutdown. The maintenance contractor will then contact you.

I am here: http://tapatalk.com/map.php?2hqyeq

If the client doesnt know who the provider is how would I find out and also what is the timespan between asking you need a shut down and getting the shut down?

Thanks very much for all the comments

BTS are the contractors in Essex, if that's where your job is, is it LV or HV? What's happening to the trees in question?
