Just a heads up really, but i'm sure most of you are fully aware anyway.

I received a letter from hastings with my automatic renewal quote (if i didn't contact them they would carry on the insurance with the new cost).

It was for around £850. I went on their website and entered the exact same details and it came up as £550!!! Bloody cheeks! :laugh1:

Yep they will charge you a nice premium for causing you no hassle and carrying on. Pays to shop around.

I spent ages looking at insurance for a range of vehicles a few months ago. A 2003 landy 90 td5 was £1200 to insure. A 2008 1.3tdci corsa van was 1400. I can't understand insurance at all!

I always get the impression that your current insurer looks at it like this: We have your custom so we will increase your renewal price and hope that you cant be bothered to shop around. I never stay with my current insurer, i just pump my details into compare the market etc and go for the cheapest. I always go for fully comp, protected no claims and the difference from one company to the next can be as much as £800.

What makes me laugh is we all go for the cheapest quote, but when a customer does it to us for a tree job we all mump and moan about the devaluation of the industry :lol:

:lol::thumbup1:

Yep always think the same thing when people are asking for 'who sells the cheapest rope, harness, oil etc etc'

Then in the next breathe say "Never back down on your prices, stick to your guns, dont offer discounts, we have to earn a living etc etc."

All just devaluing the retail industry IMO.:laugh1:

Although saying that insurance compaines are robbing barstewards! :001_smile:
