It's a topic on people working cheap and you are doing jobs for the timber.

And? I said to the fella 400 quid and I get the wood, it would fell into the field, I don't see how that's a problem, I will sell the wood and make money an get paid for the job too.

I heard you were just doing it for the timber. I'll put my orthopaedic shoe on and stand corrected mate.

It's crazy to think that firewood is costing similar money standing as it was at roadside not that mant years ago.

I often give the customer a price to do the job and if it's good hardwood like Ash, Beech, Sycamore etc I will knock money off for the timber, I allways cover my cost before knocking anything off. I have a good stock of wood and plenty of loyal customers to buy it. It doesn't cost me that much to process into logs, and it all goes in the pot, that's what business is about isn't it?

I do it the other way. I add money to take the timber away. I'm not interested in firewood though, I've got better things to do than chase people for £100 for firewood which they order the day their last lot run out. Been there done that and won't be doing it again.

I allways get payment on delivery and stipulate this when they order. I'm still doing 4 or five loads a week so it's a nice income booster and I enjoy it.
