I am going to change the piston and cylinder on a 365 I have been given because it is scored. I,m going to change it for a 372 cylinder kit but am bothered that the inlet on the 372 might be the round one. The inlet on my 365 is the oval one.

Does anyone know if they are oval and do they have a source or part number so I don't end up with the wrong thing

I need a full piston / cylinder kit and the cylinder to crankcase gasket

As long as it is a "special" and not the older plain old 365 . The special has the stronger bottom end , crank, bearings etc from a 372 . If you put a 372 top on an older 365 it might be too much for it . Just a thought .

Cheers Stubby, mine is the special, I have the top of it and the cylinder is only very slightly scored, I could probably get away with a light hone and a new piston, but I want it to have a little more "grunt".

Slightly, I have 12 saws and 3 are husqys

I,ve got a 357, 365 and a big one with a 30 bar that I can't be bothered to look at the model number

They seem to be turning out some good stuff where as some of stihl's seems to be suffering IMO.
