Had a go at a low cost, low skill friction saver.

I took a lyon 18mm webbing strap tied a dmm ring in one end with a larks' and fixed a revolver to the other. Is this a safe set up?

It seems to work well in a dynamic setup.

I will be purchaseing a proper one at some point soon, but wonder if i should continue with this set up for the moment?

:confused1:

That’s an OK set up the larks will reduce the strength of the sling but not so that it matters, you could replace the ring with a micro pulley for even less friction, the tape loop is quite snag friendly but you can single it with a bit of adhesive tape or a couple of cable ties.

dont use gaffa tape to rap the sling as the glue can affect it. if you have some spare climbing rope cut a peice the lenght of the sling take the core out and thread it over, tape the ends to fraying, this will allow you to slide the cover back to inspect the sling and rotate it.

Would you use a swing cheek pulley or only one with the fixed plate? Also, similarly, how about using a swing cheek micro pulley as a friction saving device?
