Traditionally, LR's biggest customer must have been the military (hence the name Defender). Demand has dropped because the armed forces are waaaay smaller than they were and in the type of war/counter insurgency nowadays LRs just don't cut it. So for Land Rover, to put it bluntly, there's too much peace and too much war. Ironic, no?

Why would u want an overpriced, basic uncomfortable landy?

  • It's cheap to insure
  • It's cheap to fix
  • It's comfortable to drive and uou won't fall asleep at the wheel on long journeys
  • It's reliable
  • It's classless
  • It holds it's value
  • It will go where not much else will
  • It's changeable - I can go from hard top van to Soft top in about 20 minutes if I want to
  • It can tow most everything most anywhere
  • Nothing in it is made by Fox-Comm
  • It makes me and other people happy.

I don't see the attraction, the above is a genuine question :)

There is nothing available that will be any use to me for work, 4 wheel drive that will fit down narrow drives and tow heavy loads and carry loads of chip. My landy is perfect for this.
