milling confrence?

ok throwing a spanner in the works,,,how much do you actually know about milling? know more than most? think you do? know you do? actually do? willing to show others? keen to learn? mill a bit and could learn more? dabble and want too know more?

every other subject has a meet,open day or association? anybody fancy a day or weekend where we all learn from each other and dont worry about competition,,,just learning something?,few beers,,,?have no plans as yet,,like I say all input welcome,,,:thumbup:

Sounds like a very good idea!

 

I bought some timber from a mill in Northamptonshire (nice and central) not long back. The chap there has been milling for nearly 50 years. Lovely bloke and might be worth 'hiring' for the day to pick his brain. In addition to that, it's the most wonderful sawmill you have seen in your entire life with thousands of tons of butts at any one time.

Definitely interested.

 

It would be good if the site allowed for practical demos - this is an art which is often harder to explain than to show. Logistically this would also need suitable sawlogs. Achievable?
