theres 11 of us on the BSc course, however theres probably only 4 or 5 who would make become a climber afterwards, me and 2 others already are.

add to that the college level courses, ND, NC, HND etc, with probably 20 on each all wanting to climb, but they all get tickets, whether they actually carry on with the work is a different story.

On my ND we started with about 32 ... now 3 monthes from the end we have about 15 still enrolled. Only myself and 2 others work as climbers though outside of college. The standard of this years first years is very good though, 2 of them are already on VTs after 6 monthes of climbing and they keep me on my toes.

Everybody's at it nowadays, they think it's easy money.

No we don't. I and a couple of others starting up north are under no illusion where we are going to sit financially. But then age is a factor.

Will Morris's comment about the drop in numbers through the term goes along with what I was told up here. A lot of youngsters don't like the hard work and drop out, or turn up just enough to get their grants paid. So the numbers of places available each 1st term certainly won't equate to the numbers finishing.

I've seen a couple of comments from members down south groaning about their area becoming saturated with arbs. Is this a factor the nearer to a college you are?
