my advice

 

get a GOOD accountant, NOT someone you know.

 

I save every reciept i get, for everything i buy, put em all in a folder for the relevant month, every quarter pass them to my accountant, who tells me which i can, and which i can't put through the books.

 

the little bit he charges me is easily offset by the ammount he saves me.

 

cashflow'll be your hardest issue

I will take your advice, seems sensible to get someone who knows what they are doing.

 

Im not fully decided yet, although its something im deffinatly considering, after speaking to local firms they haven't got the work to take someone on full time.

Don't count on all accountants to know what they're doing. Accountant my work mates uses doesn't know anything about working tax credit and child tax credit, which seems a bit daft considering he does a lot of accounts for low income self-employed people!

Accountant is a name anyone can call themselves but have they qualifications and best of all experience.

I could be a gardener today, a tree surgeon tomorrow and an accountant Friday. Might know diddly squit about all three

Employ an accountant who has either been recommended or you've done some checking round- Oh I forgot- get quotes

Probably wouldn't be able to charge for it as they wouldn't know where to start. All they can do it add up, subtract, divide, multiply and use the % button on a calculator. Actually, some can't even do that now, they just key numbers into accounting software.

Also if your going self employed dont forget to set up your National Insurance payments

you will be responsible for this not an employer.
