Another DIY logsplitter question

Just wondering what other people thought of this. I'm just getting to the point of building it and am unsure on height of the ram in relation to the blade. I'm not sure if my blade is to big, its a foot high. The pics here are at about 20mm, 50mm and 70mm from the beam, I only want it 20mm or so from the beam so there's less leverage but then it's low down on the blade.

And while I'm here what about the shape would this be ok?

Any opinions much appreciated

You can make the back end as low as you want and have the ram on a slope, it will make no difference to the operation.

Sack that plate off and get yourself a lump of bucket edge material, it’s boron steel, machines well, welds well and you will never wear it out.

i'd keep your ram low and level, low as it reduces twist in you beam and level to reduce uneven wear in your slider plate

even though your using column it will still need web stiffeners and the front flange reinforcing

normal steel will be alright for the wedge

Cheers guys.

Andy I'll seeif I can find someone with a bust bucket, cheers

Find someone who makes and or repairs buckets and get yourself a new bit, it will be an offcut to them so nice and cheap. If you don’t get fixed up I can help you out but not till next week
