I want to take the visor off my climbing lid and am going to use glasses instead, what are the rules when it comes to not having a visor, mainly when using a chainsaw in the tree? And could i wear my oakleys instead of saftey glasses?

thanks folks

Hate visors in the tree and glasses steam up . I've been guilty lately of not bothering with anything till last week when my eyelid became quite badly swollen as a result of some sawdust. I preach H&S on here religiously so i sort of had it coming :001_smile:

Visor every time. Squint if you're concerned with a bit of dust. Glasses steam up and get scratched. A visor will keep the big, high velocity, damaging stuff away. I've been cut in the face a few times from stuff exiting the wrong way from a chipper and from branches in a tree even when wearing a visor down. The damage would be a lot lot worse without the visor.

Visors are for chipping!! And groundwork. Never used them in a tree, I went from earmuffs to petzle helmet and glasses (in 1996) in one move and passed by all this chainsaw helmet/visor nonsense!!

Glasses everytime, just find some good ones that dont steam up, they do exist, bolle do some that are as cool as your oakleys but cost £7.5 and dont have oakley on them!!
