362 chain running on

I recently got a 362, its probably had 4 or 5 fills run through. I've noticed that after cutting for maybe an hour or more the chain will continue to spin after easing off the throttle. The chain isnt slack, it seems like its still revving up a bit. Any thoughts?

Sounds like the saw has bedded in & reduced the enginges friction, could just want the tickover lowered,or maybe a tweek on the H & L screws, then tickover lowered,if you dont know how to do these take the saw back to the dealer for a tune up,dont mess with the H screw if you are unfamiliar with them or you could damage the saw.

If the chain is spinning at idle and the idle speed is around right, you may have worn clutch springs, worn or damaged sprocket bearing or foreign matter between the crank and the sprocket - plastic twine is a favourite!

If the idle isn't dropping to the normal level - circa 2,800rpm for you techies, then the idle needs adjusting. If the saw idle is staying fast for a second or three before dropping down ot the correct level then it may be a number of things - a plugged breather is one of them and a slightly weak mix on the L screw is another - both will give an effect like you get as you are about to run out of fuel but not quite as apparent.

Hi Spud, the chain isn't running on when idle, it only runs for a little while after releasing the throttle and only when its warmed up. So you think it might need some adjustment on the L screw? I'm not totally tech savvy when it comes to the inner workings of a saw.
