Sunday milling

Finally had a sunny day and the time available to do some milling, been seriously wet in the western isles for months.

Picked up a small piece of elm the other day, been down a while and was about 24% in the centre.

Was hoping to get a small book shelf out of it, in the end I think I'll get a garden bench as well

Now i just have to work out how to build the things!

Finally got round to having a play with some of this stuff, my first home made furniture. Thought I'd start with the garden bench, not so much of a problem if I messed up.

So far it has just had a single coat of Linseed oil, not sure if that was the best idea, any suggestions for treatments?

All comments good or bad welcome.

And finally the view from the seat, yes I live in a great place

Thanks for the replies

Bob - The bench is very stable at the moment, one thing I didn't mention is that it is bolted down to 2 small concrete pads just below the gravel this help with the stability but I mainly did it to stop it tipping forward which it wants to do if you sit in the middle as the seat bows outwards quite a bit .

Roni - I'm on Mull, just over the water from you.

Been out with the Alaskan again today, milling some lintels for the local estate. Pictures to follow if the estate manager sends them through.
