Just been given an old jonsered saw, was wondering if anybody knows the specs? Its been sitting in a shed for a long time but started after a dozen pulls. Its got no bar or chain so just wondering if its worth making the investment and buy a shiny new bar and chain or if its a rubish saw not to bother, also what size bar would i be able to run it with, any info much appreciated

Hi Jago, The Jonsered 630 is a 61.5cc saw based from the huskvarna 162, good reliable hard wearing saws, last made around 15 years ago, think i had about 3 or 4 over the years, they were mainly used for piece work felling back in 80s and 90s, can't think of any weak points to look out for, as for the bar and chain, they run on a 3/8 pitch, 73lp, chain, bar size 13" to 18", aye they were good old saws the 630s were.

Good luck.

Ps many huskvarna parts fit jonsered.

Fitted am 18 inch bar and chain today, gave it a good old clean and its running like a dream, chain brake needs some tlc, seems pretty tired and is not much use at all but all in all not bad for a free saw! Many thanks for replies jago

The 630 is a damn good pro saw and if looked after, will last another 20 years, it shares many parts with Husqvarnas as they were both manufactured in the same factory and are evry bit as good.

It will pull a 20" bar easily - here is mine

Thats a dam clean 630. How much? :)

Nice looking saw Spud, the jonsered bar looks pretty smart! the chain brake handle on mine seems to be made of metal pipe, Is this just becaUSE OLD PLASTIC COVERING IT HAS FALLEN OF OR IS JUST AN OLDER MODEL? also the whole chain brake mechanism and cover could do with replacing, would a husky one fit? and if so what model? Will get some photos up when i get the chance. thanks
