Tech Cert past exam papers

working throught my tech cert and was wondering if anyone has any passed exam questions that they could send on email? thanks steve

Hi Steve. I don't think you can get them anywhere. We certainly tried whilst on the course but were told that ABC Awards don't release them. Seems a bit off to me.

I found the same difficulty when preparing for the exam with marking instructions and past papers not forthcoming.

 

I find it very concerning that the Arboricultural Association does not help arborists in such an obvious and structured way, it makes no sense. Surely past papers should be in the public domain and marking instructions provide transparency and a clear understanding of HOW they mark.

 

The marking is clearly subjective which therefore suggests, one marker's 4/4 could be another marker's 2/4. Where is the consistency? How can they expect people to do well if they dont provide the tools to support learning?

 

I was disillusioned by it.

Just got the results of my tech cert last week, i'm well chuffed I passed. I should be able to dig out some mock exam questions that my tutor set me if you want

written exams were held at Norwich, the management day was at Ardley Arboretum, I did my course through Tree Life. I also went on the 3 day management prep course that Tree Life run, this was held at Sparsholt collage, well worth going on especially for BS5837! If you want any of those papers contact me.

Is that the AA tech cert how long did it take in total to gain and does it have any benifits over nptc quals.

 

yes it shows you know more etc but is it recognised in industry??.
