Business rates/logs stored in garage

Yo,

 

If I was to store a small amount of logs, certainly less than 5m3 in my garage with a view to selling them in net bags in a year or two, what would be the score with business rates? I'm already registered as self employed for the odd day I help out my mate, just I ended up taking a load of maple and sycamore home from a job. Only thought about the potential for business rates after.

Business rates have been stopped for the time being.

Don’t worry about the non domestic (business) rates, they can only charge you that if the property is a commercial one.

 

IF you should be concerned it would be from planning for change of use but they are your logs, and you are having a wood burner fitted,……….as soon as you can afford it

Actually they were for small business and depending on your RV until Oct last year not 100% if they are still free.

Otherwise would have thought a garage unless well ventilated not the best place to store.

Like someone said- if council get involved they are for your personal use

Yeah, with regards ringing up, got it out the way in one foul swoop. Trying to get all rings split and stacked asap. I totally forgot I'm getting a burner installed next year!

Try and consider the neighbours. silent genset electric saw. Do as much as u want and dont worry unless the council contact u. Then move to another garage.
