This time of year id be inclined to head towards Pleurotus ostreatus, as Gerrit has mentioned, it waits until its host is dormant for its mycelium to penetrate and then fruit. As it cannot fight against the attack. Sneaky little bugger!

 

Agreed. Quality isn't great, but they look like gills not pores. Host, form and winter all point to it...

Thanks guys for this. It's on a heavy limb heading towards a busy carpark. I think we'll get the weight out of this one to be on the safe side. Might do a bit of a climb around to see if there is anything else in the canopy.

which im sure you will find something else, theres no such thing as a healthy horsechestnut is there? :biggrin:
