Just looking for an idea of what to charge for excellent quality larch sawlogs. I have about 25 tonnes of 12-18 inch diameter logs, straight and clean.

If anyone can give me an idea of what to price them at, it would be appreciated!

Someone told me b4 xmas that larch sawlogs were fetching £31.5 to £33.5 per ton up here dependent on size. No idea if this is correct. That was roadside.

That doesn't sound a million miles away from what we were offered recently by one mill though we're a lot further south.

IIRC we were getting that in 1978, bars were £19/tonne, it all went downhill after that.

Ransfords of Bishops Castle were paying £50 per tonne for 16' sawlogs last year, but the haulage will kill it from scotland,

Try A+j scott in Northumberland, they'd be nearer, you might have trouble setting up a contract for one load. good luck.

Exactly Cat weazel, We were having £50 for spruce sawlogs in 1987, now having £45, something wrong somewhere.

Thanks for all the help chaps!

I'm actually lucky that I don't need to find a customer as I already have one for the full load. I just need to figure out what to charge them.

I'll propose £40 a tonne roadside and see where it goes.
