Good to see you here again Pete; your pics are exceptional.  Keep 'em coming!

Thanks, I'll pop a few up, as I have to sort through a few thousand of this years for a publication. 😩

Just hope my database is up to date!

Jack Snipe from the same position, taken at the end of October.

Quite lucky, usually only get arse end shots as they fly away.

Brilliant shots. You get a better selection of birds up there by the looks. 👍

what are you using to shoot?

Saw my first woodcock of the year last week . He shot up from the leaf litter in the woods . One of my all time favorite birds .

Those were shot using Nikon D850 with Sigma 150-600, my normal goto setup for  that type of pic. I also have another couple of bodies that have macro and short zooms on, find it easier than trying to change lenses in the field. I am fortunate to live on an estuary, and work (semi-retired) in woodland adjacent to Coniston Water, so get a wide variety of wildlife.

They have been feeding roadside on the way to work this last week, as I'm usually the first one through feel quite guilty disturbing them. Bloody things nearly give me a heart attack in the woods though!
