from all you VT users any advice tips etc? i've got some 10mm regate and 10mm marlowbraid spare i can play with to be used on 13mm 16 strand.

the regate is quite supple and the marlowbraid is quite stiff. any advice on how they hold or the minimum wraps and braids to take.

figured with my fancy ropeguide i've been using for about a year now i might as well back it up with a fancy hitch. and start moving quicker.

Marlowbraid yes, not sure about the 10mm though. The reigate will be rubbish, you need a bit of stiffness to help the hitch stand up.

Try a 3 2 and see how it goes.

Final word of warning, the VT is not so much a friction hitch as it is a lifelong obsession!

hmmmmm it depends if we are talking marlow braid, or marlow double braid...i think its the double braid marine stuff you use right carl? in which case its good, very supple, soft cord...unlike the marlow braid which as jamie said is a very stiff cord, not at all suitable for a v.t....at least not for me.

Yeah, your right...double braid:blushing:

Damn it!

i've tied a Vt in regate and it seems ol. i got some Marlow marine doublebraid ages ago and the core and sheath were so badly balanced i was able to splice it one handed. The Marlow braid is really stiff tying it loose and tugging it it won't bite but the regate will.

Advice on wraps and braids? why is the regate crap cord while you advocate the marlow doublebraid?
