stigl chainsaw exhaust direction

Hiya I've set my saw up on a sawhorse for left handed use ( on the left side of teh frame ) and after an hour of using it the exhaust gases in my face were too much when the wind died down. Now the muffler directs the gases out to the right, whats the easiest non destructive ( warranty voiding ) way of directing it to the left, or straight along the bar? So far I have come up with a fuel line pipe angled to the left. Or one you would fit on a model plane to deflect the oily exhaust away from the plane, but I'm not sure how much they'd effect power output. Any ideas?

is there realy a need to have it that way round? left or right handed i cant see it making a difference for use?

i would try slipping over a snug bit of rubber pipe (heat resistant) angled away from you first and see how that works before any significant mod. if that doesnt work then i'd try holding it properly in my RIGHT hand:001_tt2:

doesnt make a diferance, your left hand should be on the frount handle and your righthand on the back weather u are left or right handed

Wrong. It is mostly a 1 hand saw operation when its bolted to that frame. The other hand steadies the wood, and move it along.

True....just like using a chop saw on a bench.

The exhaust gases from using a standard petrol/oil mix ar fairly unpleasant, and in a confined area or with the exhaust bouncing back at you they can cause some unwanted side effects. Nausea and headaches are commonplace as is a loss of energy and some drowsiness.

In your situation they will be worse than normal.

Give Aspen fuel a try, the fumes are many times less toxic and you will notice an immediate improvement.

Take the exhaust can off get a bit of steel tube cut a hole on the side you want the gases to come out . braze the tube in and blank off the old one . You are almost into porting ! L.O.L.
