Found this interesting specimen on the bay,

kindling machine/kindling splitter/kindling/firewood | eBay

clearly not a patch on the kindlett, but its half the price and seemingly much simpler.

I wonder just how it would cope with knotts, there is a video of it working, but can't see anything but straight grain going in.

anyone got any experience of these?

My thoughts are ( and I dont do kindling so please feel free to flame !!).

Loading it, looks like bits of pallet going in, no auto feed system, I would find that a pain. Looks like you could load perhaps 3 boards deep, maybe more. When putting the thicker stuff in it only cuts in the vertical so you get wide sticks that are maybe not to everyones taste. Round wood would be far worse, cant see how you would get sticks and inch or so square out of it.

Have experience of the kindlet not this machine.

Imo a good machine for the money as long as you have knot free flat timber of the right dimensions as your feedstock.

I would imagine that it wont take roundwood and if it did the product would be too big.

To make that machine productive you need two operatives. At least with the kindlet one man can bag and load with the machine still splitting at the same time.

Kindlets are expensive for a reason...they are the best in class you can get.
