Starting an MS260.

Hi,

 

I have just got an MS260 that has a decompression valve. I have never used a saw with a decomoression valve before........I understand how it works and you should push the valve in when trying to start it but do you have to push it in again once the saw has "burped"? I did this today and it wouldnt fire, ended up flooding it! Should I only push it in once??

yes there a lot of guys in our game im one of them myself that suffering from tennis elbow so if it can save you just the tinest bit of effort will help your joints and muscles in the long run yes jsut press once and then use normal staring methods

i'll start using them a bit more then and see how i get on :)

 

got a 361,441 and haven't used them on them yet, deffinetly use it on the 088 :blushing:

I agree that a decompression valve on a 50cc saw is not a big help, but if it's there, why not use it.

 

As the manual states, you should open the valve before each attempt, also after the first fire with full-choke. I cannot see how the open valve could have anything to do with the flooding of your saw. If it had fired, the valve would have closed.

 

My view is backed up by the Stihl Instruction Manual:

 

Models with decompression

valve

- Press in the button to open the

decompression valve.

The decompression valve closes as

soon as the engine fires.

- For this reason you must press in

the button before each starting

attempt.

I've used the decomp valve before and after burp and it works fine. Just make sure that when you start it after its burped that you flick the switch up, its easy to forget.

I agree the decomp valve is pretty pointless and sometimes i dont use it. However when you run out of fuel completely, it makes it so much easier to draw fuel through.
