I think the art positioner although great at what it does, is not that much better, for a sideline/lanyard/strop, than a hitch with pulley wheel, especially not at £70. Thats my twopence worth anyway:biggrin:

the cheaper ones you've seen are the art positioner mate, no good as a main line device!:001_smile:

ART - Climbing Gear

but look at them! they are so shiny! :thumbup1:

so what puts people off of these devices??

Money! But I don't see why because they can make a job so much easier.

yeah they are expensive eh! but i do get through a fair bit of hitch cord a year! if the cams are only a tenner, it'll only be a bit more expensive than gettin new hitch in all year. also if their advantage outways the cost difference i'd definitely look in to one!

I use my positioner on my long lanyard and I wouldn't be without it! My line is about 10m but I can get plenty of good secondary anchor points with it. Great bit of kit.

Can you get smooth adjustments with it when using as a secondary anchor or is it jumpy?

I agree it must be a good little bit of kit but i can't justify the price when i never have any issues on my 5m side strop with vt and pulley for 20% of the price
