The mrs found the pic on the web whilst eating her toast. The trees are Poland and the text below the pic said that the shape is unexplained. Any ideas?

my money is on a snow/mud-slide type of event, as its only a particular area of a wood I believe(?) It looks like they're on a bit of a slope with the bends all pointing downhill.

That's planning for the future, that is. Thing is: a. doesn't seem to have been much aftercare, as the rest of the trunks are going every which way, and b. does pine make good boat keels anyway?

All of the same age group which suggests, to me, that something occured to them as saplings in a relatively small area. As mentioned previously: mud slide or extraction damage, a flood from a burst bank, mans' interference to provide knees for boats or probably none of these:confused1:
