Looks a bit nippy there

It's cool. I removed some detail from that image ... and it still seems nippy

One more of the Smith River fork. Look for the patio and rails. Coast Redwood and Pine trees overlap natural range here.

Like much of the coastal area forests, there's some good looking mushrooms to be found in Autumn. But most visitors are coming for the big trees, not autumn mushrooms. Although, some visitors do want some Bigleaf maple autumn color in October and November with the redwood photos. Avenue of the Giants in particular.

hardly appropriate hiking or bushwhacking attire!:001_tt2:

thanks again for the great photos, hatching a plan to visit for my 40th but that is donkeys years away so plenty time to save.:001_rolleyes:

Carlos ... on this particular day, it was over 80 degrees F ... and that was probably fairly appropriate and likely for someone out of Arcata (college town) to the south.

But check out my page on this tree and check out the outfit taken on the reverse side of the tree ...

Fusion Giant. 2008 2nd Largest Coast Redwood. Sequoia sempervirens.

A bit more out of the ordinary.

Hi Mario,

We are in northern cailfornia for about the last week in June.

Can you give me a list of top places to visit for big trees & anything else worth visiting.

On our hit list so far is the avenue of the giants & Eureka.

Cheers

Michael
