These are bonneted Merc trucks and are very rugged. When I worked in Saudia Arabia in the early 1980's they were very common. The six wheeled 3824 is a six wheeler with a chassis rated at 38 tonnes gross with 240hp .We got fertiliser deliveries in the desert with these and the normal load was 30tonnes. Considering that they probably weighed over 10 tonnes empty this was considerable overloading. They were nearly unstoppable . Normal practice in the hot weather was to prop the bonnet slightly open with a coke tin for extra cooling!!
