Freelance situation??!!

Alryt lads just havin a bit of a dig about to see how things are back home in the uk (KENT MAINLY) Ive been working abroad for a little over 2 years now and have pretty much missed the bulk of the resesion etc etc. Il be heading home at Christmas time and am looking to start contracting in late January. Ive been in contact with a few companys and there all happy as for a contractor, but there all only willing to pay about 130 a day with all saws rigging kit insurance etc etc. It sounds to me like its a bit cheap but i really dont know these days whats what. Is this the norm for experienced climbers at this point in time?

Unfortunately, you have not missed the recession, things are still very tough.

I think 130 a day if pritty fair price for regular work.

thats a pretty good rate at the moment i reckon , there are plenty of people out there that would do it for less im sure , i subbie to 3 local companys and get 120 day ,bulk it out with my own bits and im never short of work , :thumbup1:bestof luck

I have to leave ozzy as visa runs out and il be workin a rotor between sweden,germany and uk so kinda will be staying abroad. Just figured it be nice to catch up with old friends and keep the contacts up back home.

As has been said, rate is about right. Been putting some LONG days in too. I've found doing my own jobs has helped out as freelancing has been a bit intermittent over the last couple of years. Expect to work as hard as you can to just keep your head above water......and welcome home!
