I wouldn't totally rule it out . Not many companies ( two i think ) do it up here. I hire one out now and again and i see the cost is £180 plus delivery and fuel for chipper now , thats without operator. To me there must be a wage in there somewhere for an operator .

Its fuuny if iwas pricing a job for example scrub clearance under my own steam id be happy with £180 all inclusive of fuel, delivery and my wage, if however someone else was using it and i wasn't in charge of the processing or work rate (ie day rate), I'd want nearer £280, thats if id even want to do it at all. actually i would, id hire one then use that so my machine doesn't get abused

I just remember at paying over £200 for a few hours chipping i should be ENTITLED to an operator! :confused1:

I have had idiots wanting a price to basically put their whole dog-**** infested filthy garden through 'your shredder'.

Bottles, cans, fence panels, rootballs, rusty swings, pond weed, one-armed Barbies etc.

Lovely.

Did it for a tenner.

There's a recession on you know?

Sorry i wont do it again :blushing:

We did think this also, most people have towbehinds so there will be little demand for a similar machine. Stuff like the greenmech cs100s and the like have some demand as they are good for awkward access.

We are thinking of buying a 12" that is available. There would be demand on large jobs as it gets it done easy. But that's looking at £350 for it on site for a day.

Fair enough, I was toying with the idea of buying something like a greenmech so it'll get anywhere and hiring me and it out but if it's not gonna work I'll not bother 

its not going to pay, sorry to put a downer on it, folks exspect that part of tree work to be FREE , dont ask me why, thats just how it is at the mo, i think prices are back to what they were 10 years ago, AND THATS PANTS thats coming from the south west of the uk , dont all jump on me , my prices have stayed firm but there are far to many MUPPETS down here undercutting:thumbdown: and putting out poxy sighns:thumbdown:

I hire my QuadChip out, with operator (me), to two local tree surgeons about 4 times a month.

I get about 3 calls a month from private punters who have cut down their own trees and require chipper hire but not many hire me out when they hear the price - £240 per day, and I think I'm cheep! To the one's that do hire me I always insist that the brash is stacked properly with no rubbish amongst it.
