I think that is "kevlar"

both Kevlar and ballistic nylon have been used in the past but the modern protection relies on the pulling out of long fibres to clog the sprocket and stall the saw. manufacturers try to be a bit cagey about the exact make up but it's often 'nylon'! Our arblite lightweight protective material is 63% polypropylene / 32% polyester / 5% Kevlar but in a way this is as irrelevant as 'how many layers are there' - the point is does it work?! and is it wearable?

I have snagged my saw many times in trousers and on those occasions when the saw is stopped by the ballistic, leaving strands attached, one way to restart the rotation of the chain in the bar might be to throttle the saw and push it round. In so doing you will notice that the material becomes like milk...a white liquid essentially....this is the melted product. Your saw may need no further tinkering at this point. My point is this...if it were kevlar, it would not melt or become milky.... a nylon/ man-made /petrolcarbon derivative I think, in a very large part anyway....?

Otherwise, I am of the opinion that the Husqvarna trousers offer the most efficient protection against the saw....this I have gleaned from test results in the field......I am prepared to accept that this may no longer be the case however.

As has been said however, there are more issues to consider when choosing trousers...fit,durability,cost, heat, protection class......etc.
