I bought two moisture meters. A cheap one and an expensive one.

This one: TESTO|606-2|MOISTURE METER + TEMP/RH | Farnell United Kingdom

and this one: --|ST-125|MOISTURE METER | Farnell United Kingdom

Both gave virtually the same readings as each other when tested on the same pieces of wood. Also the cheaper one seemed of better build quality due to it's rubberised housing.

The expensive meter felt and looked a bit budget. Was really disappointed with it. I'd definitely recommend the cheaper one any day.

i have a stihl one i havnt compared it yet but a customer decided to go to another supplier because they were cheaper.the wood was all hardwood and wouldnt burn properly so she rang me to take some. on testing with the meter on 3 pieces of wood from each batch the other suppliers were averaging 31% and mine straight off the van in drizzly conditions mine averaged 20% so mines proved a point so im happy with it :)

the other supplier had delivered the wood at the end of september and it was in a shed so it must have been pretty fresh when delivered.

Had the same problem with my moisture metre with it coming on in my pocket and killing itself,I would suggest a hard case for one if it's a press on and off one.

I was so obsessed with mine when I got it that I was testing everything to the point that when I got diesel from the garage I was testing their logs too! Now that's unhealthy...Right?
