Updating NPTC certs from 90's, refresh or retrain

Hi I went to college ( Otley ) in 95-96 and got all the certificates at the time, I have contacted the NPTC who say that they are still valid but recomend a refresher course, what would this entail?

I am guessing that I would not get a new certificate just a letter saying that I attended a refresher course.

Only asking as I have had a couple of interviews and been told that my tickets are out of date

Cheers

Chris

Hi chris

your CS certs dont expire (at the moment) but it is a reccomendation that you undergo refresher training at a suitable interval usually every 3 years these courses usually cover a cross section of the criteria and its a chance to update techniques and methods

you will receive a certificate of attendance

Hi Chris

if you did the old blue book system of nptc then there was a cut off point a few years ago now and you prob would be best to retrain for your own piece of mind and undergo new assessments to bring your qualifications upto date!

Why????:confused1:

Have trees changed???????????:confused1:

Hi yes it was the old 'Blue Book',

What do they teach on the refresher course?

I don't think there is a "refresher course", but doing any of the new units is classed as a refresher, as they all cover the safety aspects of what we do, obviously one that covers climbing would probably be more appropriate :001_smile:

My tickets are from 1996, I've had them queried a few times, but up to now they have always accepted that as tree work is all I do its not like I'm likely to wake up one morning having forgotten how to do it :001_rolleyes:
