Even better might be to attach the krab to the line with a clove hitch (which is what it very often done in rock climbing) - the clove hitch will hold the krab in position to prevent cross loading, and is also easily adjustable to alter the positioning of the krab on the line.

What about a Maillon or something similar...

 

A Maillon Rapid properly attached to an Alpine Butterfly is a far better choice then a carabiner for a mid-line connector.

Approach it as a new climber would, there are a lot of things you will transfer straight across tho. Take a couple of slings with crabs in for either high re-directs or close stem anchors.
