Bear with me here fellas because I haven't done any SRT stuff before. My mate and I were having a yarn on site today while he had the wrench set up. I can see all the benefits of the wrench on a single rope working line but my query is; how is it for accessing the tree if you don't have stuff like a foot pantin? E.g. if you have a 40 foot stem with no branches for the first 25 feet how would it compare to a SJ for example? Hope that doesn't come across as to much of a stupid question.

I find a static line best but I also have used Tachyon but there is a bit of bounce.

You will need a long line for rescue purposes, 3 times the height minimum.

Does it need to 3x tree height I you're anchoring to the base of the tree?

What about just tying another rope to the anchor end of yours, in case of rescue?

I know hse would not approve but it save buying a mega long rope.

You can body thrust but you'd have to have the strength of a bear to do 25 feet

So basically without said pantin or similar it's rendered almost useless as an access device yet fantastic to work off? The next question I then have is; if you have to set the whole system up with pantin etc to access the tree, is this always the quickest method or is it better used in conjunction with other devices i.e. access the canopy DRT then swap to the wrench?

Again, I started to get lost a little in the thread so apologies if all this has been answered before.

Yes if base anchoring, 2 lengths to work with, up and over and at least 1 length to lower you down.

Not advisable, what if the knot gets caught on a stub and the casualty gets stuck?

How big s trees do you regularly work on?

if the knot stuck in a crotch you've only compromised a situation that dbrt never allows you to do (unless working of a midline anchor on access line)-not ideal but no reason to discount the idea in my opinion. Ive personally started to prefer the locked off cambium saver tip over the base anchor at the moment.

easy remedy, buy a pantin :);) seriously, once you try this with one you'll wonder how you ascended without one!
