Rope Wrench feedback

Also i've been playing with setup (types of pulleys and cord)

So i've been using the Stein Skywalker instead of the Hitchclimber and found it a better pulley as there are only two holes. The reason is i use a dmm thimble on the tether if in need to use LOTS.

Dmm or isc oval crabs work great and imo best.

So i've rated the cord out of 10 (1=rubbish 10=great)

Ocean poly = 5 - can struggle to bite but flows on the line easy

Armour Pruss = 8 - Very good but can be a little hard to get moving from the off

Beal regate = 7 - Very good but wears quickly due to its build quality (heat)

Silverstreak = 7 - Same as reagate

Bee Line = 8 - Very good but does need a wet day to break in.

(some purple stuff of which i cannot remeber the name) = 6 - Works well but has a short lifespan.

I hope this is of some help or interest to some but thought id share my testing.

But what kind of rope are you using now for this test Ian?

I climb Ddrt and srt on the same static line. Its great! Makes my hitch work like a spiderjack! Had a go on the wrench again the other day and loved it. Its my next purchase! Taken a few small falls and plenty of swings with the static line and its no drama. I know its not the best idea but its the only rope I have at the moment.

Ah for the main tests Posion Ivy, Samson Velocity, globe-srt line and Tacyon

(hence why i had a little time out of the thread)

I'll rate the ropes i've used:

Posion ivy: 7 - would be higher but found it a bit bouncy

Yale ice: 7 - Nice rope but seemed to burn out the beal quickly

Velocity: 9 - Really good, does fluff up easily but doesnt effect the RW at all

Globe: 9 - Really good but is a little stiff in construction

Tacyon: 9 - Really good and harder wearing than Posion Ivy

Yale XTC: 6 - Seemed to bind up a fair bit with the RW

Hope this is of intrest.

Ian, have you tried icetail hitch cord? I had the same conclusion as you about the op and prefer the icetail for its ability to grab every time without tending.

No not heard of it but it might be under a different name over here:thumbdown: Have you got a picture on facebook you can pop up on DBTrees?
