Ash limb removal

I agree, a Pollard in my opinion is the way to go, but as said I don't think it's an option. I would rather not leave a stub and agree that the best way to ensure the health and optimum repair from the pruning is to target prune, but I wonder if that wound would be just too large at that height on the main stem, there's a lot of weight and leverage above it. I think what I should do is send the quote in with a strong recomendation for the whole tree to be pollarded and we'll see where that gets us.

I think i would go down the target prune route. Perhaps a bit of a crown clean and reduction to get the weight off (as advised in combination with bracing). The tree would more likeley compartment the wound. suppose it would be prudent to keep the tree under observation thereafter. I think mediating with the neighbour as best as possible would make things a lot easier.

Keep an eye on it?Thats the last thing a customer wants to hear.

Why? If I notice any defects in trees while, pricing, pruning or in general if I think it could be a possible future problem then I inform the customer about it.

Once I've explained what they should be looking for and why they usually understand, better than saying "Yep its fooked needs felling asap it will cost ya XXXX"

Surely you mean Natural Fracture Prune :001_tongue:
