tough pair of forestry boots?

I'd put comfort over price when it comes to boots - if you're going to be spending most of your waking hours wearing them they want to be comfy

UK forestry is not really that hard on gear.

 

We often work in snow and wet conditions on rough ground and wore out several of the orange rubber chain boots in six weeks from new. (Stihl) checked them in Germany at the R and D office and said we walked around too much in the woods behind the horses.

 

We now use some leather/rubber versions from Canada and will check on the brand.

well took the plunge and just bought a pair of haix tibets, found a pair for 165 and free postage so thought i would go as i know the haixs fit me and hopefully will last as long as the last pair! thanks for the input guys, really appreciated.

I'm still wearing a pair of Oregon Greens! They are almost 12 years old and I would hazard have done 8-9 years use - spin on that posh brands et al!

Good to hear, currently using a pair of Oregon boots, though after 4 weeks are showing signs of being spanked by brambles!

Yes unfortunately the new ones (not the classic "greens") are not built like the old ones.

Not sure about forestry boots. Both the Air Tirrols and the Meindles are excellent boots, the Meindles slightly better in my op but don't know if they'd suit for forestry. More of a stiff climbing boot. Having said that I do use the Meindles as walking boots when I take the dogs out and need good waterproof boots.

just got myself a pair of haix protector pro for mainly Forrest work and a wee bit of climbing very comfy my old stihl boots lasted 12 years on and off in the winter or realy wet bits just used oregon cutting wellies
